Devices and Mac OS X version
VLC media player requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later. It runs on any 64bit Intel-based Mac. Previous devices are supported by older releases.
Note that the first generation of Intel-based Macs equipped with Core Solo or Core Duo processors is no longer supported. Please use version 2.0.10 linked below.
For example, the Mac OS X 10.5.4 Combo Update updates any earlier version of Mac OS X 10.5 to Mac OS X 10.5.4 using a single installer, as opposed to installing the individual Mac OS X 10.5.1, 10.5.2, 10.5.3, and 10.5.4 updates. Standalone Updates are generally available 24 to 48 hours after the Update is available through Software Update. Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger download possible? Is there any where some one can download Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger that will work on Powerbook G4? I badly need it and i don't know where to download the correct version that will work with my G4.
Web browser plugin for Mac OS X
Support for NPAPI plugins was removed from all modern web browsers, so VLC's plugin is no longer maintained. The last version is 3.0.4 and can be found here. It will not receive any further updates.
Older versions of Mac OS X and VLC media player
We provide older releases for users who wish to deploy our software on legacy releases of Mac OS X. You can find recommendations for the respective operating system version below. Note that support ended for all releases listed below and hence they won't receive any further updates.
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
Use VLC 2.2.8. Get it here.
Downloaded the iso image and proceeded to make a Mac OS X bootable USB on windows. To create a bootable media to install Mac OS X leopard on my old macbook A1181. I used imageusb and installed. I was very happy to find this 10.5.4 version which worked perfectly. Many thanks to all.
Download the latest version of BootCD, version 0.6.4.1, which works with Mac OS X 10.3.x (Panther). Download BootCD version 0.5.4 for Mac OS X 10.2.0 through 10.2.8 (Jaguar). Download BootCD version 0.3 for Mac OS X 10.1.5 and earlier. BootCD has received 4 mice in a review by Macworld! Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Get it for PowerPC or 32bit Intel. Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
